The Ladies’ Benevolent Society LBS was established in 1915 with Mrs. Saidie Tanber, as President. For three or four years the efforts of the members was given to garnering enough money to add to the money solicited by the men to purchase the double house on the corner of Elm and Erie Streets for the site of the church. This eventually became the site for the first St. George Church located at 628 Elm Street corner of Erie Street in the North end of Toledo.   It was a perfect location for the time since almost all the parishioners, who were mostly immigrants lived within a walking distance for the newly built church.

St. George Cathedral is currently located at 3754 Woodley Rd in West Toledo, which was completed in 1974 and was consecrated on July 7th of that same year.

It has been through the love and dedication of the women of St. George Cathedral, the LBS who have contributed their tireless effort in hosting dinners and events over the last 100 years that have contributed to sustaining the financial equilibrium we enjoy today.

This year is their 76th Annual Lebanese Dinner held on Sunday October 23, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
